New Extension roof at Denchworth, Wantage, Oxfordshire

New Extension roof involving felt, battening, tiling, leadwork and the sealoflex flat roof system. This new flat roof extension is a single ply membrane called Sealoflex, it is a reinforced synthetic rubber. All the joints are taped and then a sealing primer is applied to prevent the liquid from seeping and soaking too much into the boards.

A pink base coat is applied with a polyester reinforced membrane put into it then allowed to dry. From this image you can also see the extensive roof work that I was involved with on this project.

A top coat which is UV resistant grey in colour is applied. This is a very good product as the life expectancy can be extended by an application of a maintenance coat. This is also cold applied so no heat or flame  is required. View 1 of the finished roof.

Re-felting garage flat roof at East Challow Nr. Wantage

The garage flat roof here has come to the end of its life and I was asked to replace it with a new 3 layer felt roof system.  Click the images to enlarge for more detail.

Renovation of a garage flat roof

This is the garage completed with a torch on mineral felt. I used a high-grade felt with minerals as a top coat. A first layer is laid loosely to allow for movement, a second layer
torched on with a burner going opposite way to first layer then a last third layer with edge details torched on to finish.

Applying a three layer felt system to a garage roof

As you can see the finished roof in a mineral top coat surface. Compared to the original lime stone chippings on the roof shown below, the roof I supplied and installed it’s a lot neater looking and a more durable finish.

GRP fibre glass applied new flat roof extension Abingdon Oxfordshire

This is an extension being built up through a garage. Steel beams were put in to take the extension and a new formed flat roof was built to cover the steels. I used a GRP product, polyester resin re-inforced with chopped strand fibre glass and woven glass cloth tape. This has to be adhered to OSB3 Sterling board, GRP trims are used for abutments and edgings which are being fixed into place in this picture. Click images to enlarge for more detail

All trims are fixed in place and ready for next stage which is sealing all joins and edges.

Resin is being mixed for use, the polyester resin is activated using a hardener to start the curing. The system has been used in marine applications for many years and is very similar to boat hull constructions, so you could say it has been well-tested against water penetration.

Applying resin to penetrate the jointing tape, once the resin hardens you have a very strong reinforced plastic that is also flexible and waterproof.

All joins and edges sealed and curing ready for the next part of the application.

All top coating finished. A GRP wall trim flashing is to be fixed into the brick mortar joint above the wall trim fillet.

The finished GRP weatherproofing system

This GRP roof drops down to the existing garage flat roof which is made of built up felt. We had to apply a torch on felt system below to finish and seal around the extension coming through the roof.

New tiled roof to extension Nr Goring On Thames

New extension with tiled roof and the use of the Sealoflex flat roof system. The work involved applying the felt, battens, tiling along with all lead work and flat roofing systems. A complex range of tiled roof working in with the flat roof areas. More details shown along with each image.

The client was concerned about having too much lead on show for reasons of theft so I advised them to use a Sealoflex system to put on the top flat roof. This type of roof covering is a reinforced polyester system, very tough and flexible. To extend the life of the flat roof an application of a maintenance coat can be applied. Flat roof re-surfaced London location

A flat roof replaced with three layers of built up felt with a torch on mineral top coat to finish. The original felt never went up under the neighbours ridge tiles on the adjoining wall so I removed the ridge tiles carefully and put my felt up and over the wall, then bedded the ridge tiles back on with sand & cement.

Carrying out the work using this method gave a more weatherproof finish to the new felt roof covering and with the re-fitting of the ridge tiles it gave the fabrics an upgrade for both properties.
